Instrument Panel & Avionics


  • Layout
    • EFIS in the center
      • Sequence is either displayed on the EFIS (via the G3X NTSC coax connector?), or
      • Removable sequence card holder goes over half of the EFIS (depends on split-screen capability)
    • Switches below the EFIS
    • Fuel valve below the switches; make sure the control stick won't hit it when all the way forward
    • Panel layout tool:
  • Tilts Aft
    • The top fastens to fuselage canopy bow with screws + nutplates, or bolts with self-locking nuts (may want sleeves around the bolts to avoid crushing the bow) or threaded inserts in the bow.
    • Pivots about a hinge located above the fuel selector
    • Fixed section on the left side for prop & mixture controls + air vent, of sufficient width to allow the panel to tilt all the way to the seat back if the stick is positioned in the left rear.
    • Symmetrical fixed section on the right side for air vent.
    • Bring the wires to the top of the spar box and then up to the panel. This 90-degree angle avoids straining the wires

    • Position Lights

    • Landing Light. 3-position switch: off, flash, on
  • Ignition: locking toggle switches (ex:
    • Left (mag)
    • Right (Lightspeed)
  • Camera start/stop?
  • Starter
    • Momentary
    • On throttle or control stick?
    • Two-step operation for safety
      • Flip-up safety cover, or
      • "Start Enable" switch on the instrument panel, adjacent to the mag switches, or
      • On/off key
  • Cowl flaps (if electrically actuated)

Cockpit Lighting:

  • Illuminate instrument panel legends
    • Eyebrow lights?
    • LED light strip?
    • Mini spotlight mounted under the RH fuselage side rail?
    • Illuminated switches?
